5 am is tough. She was asleep before we made it back to the car in her new wool hat from the fiber tent. She's still sleeping now.

Deerfield Fair 2009
Thankfully the heavy rain and thunderstorms of yesterday rained themselves out enough that the fairgrounds today were overcast and warm (warm for October). Working with a 5 am wake up time we got to the fair around 9:00 am. Maria and I shared a jumbo cinnamon sugar raised doughnut and milk and watched some of the horse show before we went off with Susanne to pet cows, sheep, chickens, a rabbit, a duck and "The Three Little Pigs". We saw a calf so new it was still wet and people were tending to the mama cow who was munching away. There were NO pony rides this year-someone could have warned us-so we were a little disappointed as that had been the topic of discussion every time we saw a Deerfield Fair commercial this week. After a tantrum worthy of "The Nanny" on the paved road of the fair because we needed to meet up with friends at that moment before we went on the Merry-go-Round we did make it to the ride.
