Usually our Columbus Day weekend routine is hiking in Pawtuckaway but this year Paul is trying to build a deck on the back of the house and so the girls and I vacated to Jefferson and left him to work. The up side is that it was such a beautiful, 80 degree weekend it didn't matter where you were or what you were doing. Since we're usually not in Maine for this weekend we've never gone to the Damariscotta Pumpkin Festival before and so this year we made sure to go. On Saturday after lunch we got there in time for the parade. Besides the parade there were lots of huge, decorated pumpkins to look at and all the stores were open too. The winning pumpkin in terms of weight.
"Humpty Dumpty" and a pumpkin painted in the theme of a book which I think is called Wake up Night?
Events that we didn't see were the go cart races and the pumpkin regatta (people try and navigate the river in a hollowed out pumpkin). Maybe next year. The festival is week long and started the previous weekend.
Here are some recent pictures of the girls. Stella's gaining confidence in crawling, standing and walking with assistance. Maria is such a good big sister encouraging her all the time and including her in things that used to be just for her, like cooking and drawing.
Picking out pumpkins!
