Christmas 2012

Christmas fell on a Tuesday this year which meant we had several days off to prepare.  We went up to Jefferson late in the day on Saturday driving through a couple of small squalls that produced a white-ish Christmas.   Sunday Paul and Dad went out last minute shopping and the girls and I went to Tina's house to help her decorate her Christmas tree and house.

By the time we got home and took a nap Maria wasn't feeling good and came down with a fever.  A quick recovery after some Tylenol left us hopeful but she spent a restless night getting sick Sunday night.  Monday her fever came and went although by late afternoon she felt well enough to go to church and by Christmas she was back to normal.  On Sunday night I made tacos for dinner, fish, beef and turkey.  We deep fried pieces of seasoned tilapia and had it with seasoned black beans and a cabbage/red onion salad!

After dinner Maria wanted to do some singing/dancing performances and so most of us got into the act.

Christmas Eve Day we sent Papa to the basement for a little while so we could finish off one last present for him, wooden coat hangars to put in the downstairs closet.

 We spent a wonderful Christmas Day opening presents, playing with them and eating.  There were so many presents we actually took an intermission at around noon.  Paul made his mom's soup with arborio rice in a rich broth made with tomatoes, chicken bones, ham bone and shrimp.  We need to name this soup!  There was also sandwich makings, Kim's homemade cinnamon rolls, beef stew, quiche and frittata and fruit and veggie platters to eat.  We nibbled all day!
