Deerfield Fair 2008

The Deerfield Fair was a muddy, rainy, humid, tropical mess today. Fortunately, we managed to attend during four fairly non rainy hours. We even saw peeks of blue sky. Obviously there has been a lot of rain though.

After our Woodcutter's steak and cheese, eaten in the vegetable hall because it was raining at that time, we took the 2008-we-were-here picture. Our friend Amy was up visiting from Boston, the Miskinis' and Hayden's godfather Kevin rounded out our group. The dip in the pumpkin made a perfect seat for one year olds and while Maria wanted to use it as a slide Hayden was channeling Cinderella.

All in all it was worth it but someone was trying to tell us we should've skipped Pat's Apple Crisp because it started to downpour just after I got it and nothing cools down apple crisp faster than 1/2 cup of rain water. And then as we're rushing to the car under umbrellas I had to stop every 30 seconds because Maria could see me eating it through the clear window on the stroller and wanted more (which she signs now). Thank goodness we only live ten minutes from the fair. We all shed our rainy, muddy, sticky, dripped on clothes for a warm bath and mashed potatoes!
