Our Acadia camping trip this year was incredibly rainy, quite possibly the rainiest trip we've ever had. On Friday morning as we were making foil packet dinners and loading kayaks on the car the downpours got more intense, several wardrobe changes happened before we even left Jefferson. Of course we left anyway with our fingers crossed. Luckily by the time we got to the campground there was a break in the action and although damp we didn't have to set up tents in the rain! A couple of big tarps, one found by Dzadek near the dumpster, added a measure of protection to our sites.

After setting up camp we headed into town for a couple of hours to pass the time

and then back to camp for spaghetti and meatballs. Babcia took charge of the evening meal.
The next day, despite soggy conditions, we went crabbing and kayaking after breakfast. Babcia was intent on retrieving quarters stuck between the boards of the dock.
A few rounds of dominoes, a few shots of whiskey, a few changes of clothes,
a short hike,
some rock art
and some salty air rounded out our trip.
And we did make it to Mt. Desert Ice Cream. Green tea and coconut this year for me.
