This morning Maria and I left Papa putting yet another coat of poly on the Murphy bed and went with Susanne to the Clipper City Rail Trail in Newburyport, MA. It was yet another beautiful day, in the 70s and breezy and thankfully not the 85+ and humid day they had forcasted. We walked down the trail to meet up with the water and along the water to a playground. I meant to take a picture of Maria on the stone dolphins but got distracted by how much I needed to go to the bathroom and took this picture of her using her potty behind a tree.
After the playground we walked the other way on the trail, a less scenic, less shady walk with a less energetic Maria to get ice cream half an hour before the place opened. By the time we walked back to the car (Maria took the opportunity to lay down in her stroller) it was open and we drove there and had cheeseburgers and grilled cheese and ice cream for lunch. Maria fell dead asleep mid conversation with me. I too took a nap since last night, between sore hips, a thunderstorm, the cat trying to share my pillow and feeling really hot I was awake every hour. Late afternoon we headed out for an impromptu dinner with the Bergs. Maria and Paul helped Seth and Sam to further construct Seth's new swing set while Carole and I got dinner together.
We had marinated grilled vegetables and tempeh with carrots dipped in hummus, slices of cheese, bread, blackberries and leftover lemonade cake on the lawn for dessert. It was excellent!
Seth and Maria played tag on the lawn until it got too cold for short sleeves and we realized it was almost eight o'clock. Time for bed so we're rested up for the parade tomorrow!
