This year we took a carriage ride along the carriage roads in the park. Everyone except Paul and Chuck who took the opportunity to do come biking. Our horses names were Boo-boo and Yogi and Estella was most excited to pet them at the end. The hour long ride was a little long for the kids, being pretty warm, but our driver was funny and very knowledgable.
Since it was so warm and we had three little ones after the carriage ride we went to the beach at Eagle Lake, or was it Echo Lake? As opposed to swimming off of the rock cliffs like we used to do. The small beach was pretty crowded but not too crowded and was just what we needed to cool off. It's fun to watch everyone around you having a good time, even the strangers.
This was not a first for all of us but a first for many, tea and popovers on the lawn of Jordan Pond House. Our waiter was Polish which Mom picked up on right away. Again, beautiful weather!
Something else that we had been talking about doing for a number of years but had never done it was taking the mail boat to Little Cranberry Island. This year we did it and had a beautiful ride across the ocean. We visited a potter and the historical society, walked down the road to a small farm stand and bought sandwiches and drinks, threw rocks into the ocean and played fetch with a dog.

Because we extended and shifted our time there we were in Bar Harbor on Monday night for the first of their summertime concerts in the park. We, of course, ate ice cream cones from Mt Desert Ice Cream while we were there. Coriander basil blueberry with a homemade crumble, Mexican chocolate, Lemon blueberry poppyseed, all delicious.
