Science Friday

After all the birthday parties the girls and I were ready for a quiet day at home so we had Science Friday last week.  The first thing we did, which is on our summer bucket list, was make a solar oven out of a pizza box.  We used it to melt cheese on tortilla chips but it wasn't a hot enough day to work really well, we ended up putting the ovens in the car to speed up the process.  We're going to try it on a 90 degree day.

Next we experimented with how many birthday balloons it would take to lift off the paper gift bag adding them one by one.  Even with all 11 it didn't zoom into the air but if the wind blew them a little the balloons would become air born for a bit.  The wind took them away above our heads one time but we snagged them back on the decent.

At Estella's birthday party we attempted to have an obstacle course part of which was a teeter board wo walk across.  We tried to balance  it by standing different distances from the fulcrum and we also launched things like chalk and the Slinky with it.
Finally we made peanut butter pumpkin dog biscuits for Aba and some of the local dogs we know.
